I have known Babajide Sanwo-Olu since 1999. He was a very brilliant banker before venturing into politics. Inside politics, he remained immensely resourceful until, as usual, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is known for spotting talents, decided to present him for election as the able successor to Akin Ambode.

Jide came at a time the world was at the mercy of COVID-19. But just as the world witnessed Lagos’ near perfect handling of the Ebola Virus under Governor Fashola, Sanwo-Olu continued the culture of excellence by halting the spread of COVID-19 in Lagos State.

In the area of infrastructure, the Governor has not disappointed. He continues to justify why Lagos holds the highest figures in IGR in the country.

In the area of peace and security, Lagos has never been calmer. In education, environmental sustainability and general governance, bars are raised daily.

As Lagosians decide on Saturday who leads them for another four years, I urge and plead that we give the job to the most experienced and the best candidate. I was the Secretary of the APC Governorship Screening Panel last year and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appeared before us and gave the committee every good reason for our endorsement for his continuity of governance in the State of Excellence.
